Things to Know when Purchasing a House

Buying your house with your hard earned money is an achievement. A shelter is one of the necessities of a person to live conveniently. You have to consider a lot of things before purchasing that house and lot that you have always dreamed of, and number one thing you consider is the location then the budget. For example, if you want to walk through green spaces in the city, I happen to know a city where you will feel happy and stay healthy: San Francisco. San Francisco is a “veggie-friendly” city. If you are a vegan and into organic food, you will never run out of dining options in this city. There are a lot of public parks and spaces where you can do outdoor activities to keep you fit, and you can enjoy its rich culture and friendly neighborhood.  If you like to live in a city where transportation and job opportunities are not a problem, then Chicago may be the best place for you. You see, you have to choose a city to live in based on what your lifestyle is.

Now, let’s say that you agreed with me and decided to pick San Francisco as the city of your choice; it’s time to look at other things.

Explore on your own.  You can drive through the neighborhood where you are planning on building your house. Look for “SALE” signs and visit open houses. There are different ways to explore on your own. You can visit new home subdivisions, read the real estate section of the newspaper, real estate shopping guides, and look at homes that are for sale by their owners. You can also ask from relatives and friends.

Consider your budget. No matter how much you are in love with that house, if you can’t afford it, then you can’t have it. Look for a house that meets your budget and your standard. Also, increase your budget by at least 10% of the total cost for unforeseen expenses.

Contact non-profit organizations. Organizations like ComCon can help you look for houses that will suit your budget.

An upfront and professional is what you should be hiring instead of someone who make promises but will empty your pockets in the end. There are a lot of San Francisco general contractors, one of the best that you can contact and talk to discuss your dream house is the Aaron Gordon Construction.

Time and patience. If you are to build your dream home, you must be prepared to devote a lot of your time and patience in this project. It’ll require at least 18 months building a house and if you are in a rush, buying a land with an already built home may be a good idea.

Real estate is a nice investment, and it’s nice to live in a home that you can call your own. The process of purchasing a house is not as easy as it looks. But if you are ready, financially, emotionally and physically, then go ahead start with your checklist, it’ll be worth it.
